Hey y'all!
This was such a great month! November is always one of my favorite times of the year in Texas because the weather is finally amazing, and for campus pastors it’s also the time when the semester starts to wind down a little bit. Things are still busy, but there’s a little more room to just enjoy time with students and be intentional with the relationships we’ve been building all semester.
I got to have some really fun hangouts with students this month, including going hat shopping with a few guys that I get to meet up with every week. I really love getting to do stuff like that because so much of ministry happens outside of Bible studies, meetings, and events. Sometimes it’s just getting to spend time together, have fun, and continue building those friendships.
Of course, November also means Thanksgiving! I got to be part of a couple different Friendsgivings with different groups of students, and they were each so much fun. It was really cool getting to slow down, eat some good food, and spend time together before everyone started heading home for Thanksgiving break.
Toward the end of the semester, we also always have a big winter party. This year, the Denton staff had the bright idea of making me Santa Claus for our “Dawgs and Santa” fundraiser, which was definitely an experience. This time of year is also when we start talking to students about SICM, our leadership conference. SICM is an awesome opportunity for students to grow in their faith and learn how to lead and make disciples on campus. Because the conference requires students to fly out there, we host different fundraisers throughout the ye
ar to help make the trip affordable for students who otherwise might not be able to go. So yes, apparently part of being a campus pastor also means putting on a Santa suit for the cause!
Prayer Requests for November:
- I pray that we really do thank God for everything that he has given to us. We don't deserve anything, and yet he is a cheerful giver who always provides.
