Hey y'all!
Happy New Year! I got to start off January with our staff retreat, which was such a great way to begin the year. Not only did the Denton staff get the chance to learn, rest, and be poured into, but staff from all of our college campuses across the Metroplex got to come together as well.
It was really encouraging getting to spend time with everyone, learn together, and be reminded of why we do what we do. The retreat had a lot of really life-giving and Spirit-filled content, and after a busy fall semester, it was definitely something we all needed. By the end of it, we felt refreshed and ready to get back on campus and serve our students to the best of our abilities.
January is also one of my favorite months because we get to have our student winter retreat! This year, we had the honor and privilege of hosting Marty Solomon, the host of the “BEMA” podcast. If you aren’t familiar with him, Marty does a great job helping people understand the Bible through its historical and Jewish context, and he brings a perspective that can really make familiar stories feel new again.
His teachings throughout the weekend were so good, and our students absolutely loved him. The way he told stories from Scripture was so enthusiastic and captivating, and he had a way of helping everyone notice details they may have never thought about before. It was really fun getting to see our students so engaged and excited to learn.
Marty also shared how much he enjoys getting to work with college students and how fulfilling it was for him to be part of our winter retreat. Hearing that made the whole weekend feel even more special. We seriously felt so blessed to have him with us, and it was such an awesome way to start the new semester!
Prayer Requests for January:
- Good start to the new year
- that we can reach even more students this semester
