September Updates

My Friday night core

Hey y'all!

All the apprentices at staff meeting
To kick off September, all of the apprentices got to have dinner together. We decided to do something fun and wore matching neon yellow shirts for staff meeting the next day. We got a lot of laughs, though some people thought it was super corny (that didn't matter to us!). It has been so fun and sweet to get to know the other apprentices, and the time we spend together both inside and outside class is a blast.

One of the classes we're taking (taught by Denton's very own Ryan Bristow) is the Holy Spirit class, which has been very eye-opening for me. Previously, I had never given much thought to the Holy Spirit, but this class has taught me to seek a relationship with the Holy Spirit and has offered me new perspectives that are very worthwhile.

It has been so great lately to get time with my peer team, which is a group of student leaders I offer pastoral advice to. Two of them are students I already have a relationship with, so it has been great to develop our relationship more, but it has also been so sweet to foster new relationships with the other two students. They are fun guys and are doing great things in our ministry.

Core has been really fun this month! My cofa (co-leader) Davis and I have facilitated conversations in core about vulnerability, fellowship, and community, among other things that we feel will speak to our core guys that week. This month, we've had quite a few new guys come check out our core, and it has been really sweet to see everyone connect with each other and have our current core members go out of their way to make the news guys feel welcome. They remind me of the people who sought after me when I first joined core that I am still friends with today, and I am so excited to see how all of their friendships grow.

I have also been able to participate in worship for TNF by playing the bass! Granted, it is the most important role in the band, so I play my role with dignity and grace. 🙈 But seriously, it has been really nice to participate in worship and has been something I have always loved doing (even if I haven't played the bass in a long time!).

Thank you for your continual support; without you, I would not be able to reach students who desperately need God and community. I thank the Lord for all of you every single day!

Prayer Requests:

  • That we can continue to reach out to students at UNT
  • That our core would be a place of vulnerability and growth
  • That our staff can be receptive to what God wants us to do

Remember, God loves you very very much and He has a special plan just for you. Go in the grace of God!
